Eagle Rock [Suggest Edits]

Description

It's a rock that is vaguely shaped like an eagle—make sure you walk around it to find the right angle! This is a fun place to take pictures and hang out for a snack break. This is pretty easy to access off the PCT: Campo to Warner Springs.

Do not climb on the rocks. This is a sacred site for the Kuupangaxwichem people who still live on the nearby Pala Indian Reservation. The Kupa people gathered plants and hunted near Eagle Rock when preparing for ceremonies, social gatherings, and death rituals.

Long Walk: This is accessed off of PCT mile 106. The hike starts where the Pacific Coast Trail (PCT) crosses Highway 79 just southwest of the CalFire Warner Springs Fire Station. The trail gradually climbs about 900 vertical feet over the course of 3.3 miles. For the first mile and a half, the trail climbs on the side of an arroyo and depending on the season and recent rains, the stream will have more or less water in it. The trail is generally wide and level with very few rocks or tree routes. The trail climbs out of the arroyo and into more open ground with views of the surrounding mountains.
