Desert View Watchtower [Suggest Edits]
Description
The Desert View Watchtower is situated high above a spot where the Colorado River makes a big turn. Therefore, the views of the river and the Painted Desert from Desert Point and the Tower itself are wonderful. The tower was constructed in 1932 using architect Mary Colter's design with influences from ancestral Puebloan people of the Colorado Plateau. It is one of the most prominent architectural features on the South Rim of Grand Canyon National Park. This National Historic Landmark underwent major renovations during 2010 and now houses a replica kiva room, bookstore, and observation decks.
On the Road: Steps away from the parking lot
Family Friendly: Easy access, great views. Kiva Room is interesting and you might even instill some history!
