Snake Indian Falls [Suggest Edits]

Description

Snake Indian Falls is a powerful and photogenic waterfall in the Jasper National Park backcountry. The Snake Indian River thunders over a cliff, creating Snake Indian Falls. The falls can be seen close up in their entirety from rocky overlooks just before reaching the Snake Indian River above the falls. It's quite a tall waterfall (although I could not find information on its exact height). Additionally, one can watch the water drop over the cliff from the rocky banks of the Snake Indian River at the top of the falls.

If you visit Snake Indian Falls, there is a good chance you'll have them to yourself, as it is a 17 mile hike in from the nearest road - Celestine Road. A very short (0.1 miles) and well marked spur trail about 17 miles along the North Boundary Trail - Celestine to Willow Creek from its trailhead, takes one to the falls.

Overnight Trip: Snake Indian Falls is accessed by hiking 17 miles along the North Boundary Trail - Celestine to Willow Creek, from the Celestine trailhead parking area.

The last (approximately) 8 miles of Celestine Road to the parking area is a narrow one way dirt road with a schedule for in and out traffic. Driving to the trailhead (in direction) is allowed for one hour starting at 8am, 11am, 2pm, 5pm. Driving back from the trailhead (out direction) is allowed for one hour starting at 9:30am, 12:30pm, 3:30pm, 6:30pm. A high clearance vehicle is recommended. No trailers or RVs. This road is closed in the winter.
