South Cascade Glacier Col [Suggest Edits]

Description

This is potentially the most impressive viewpoint of the Ptarmigan Traverse and would be tough to challenge anywhere else. The unobstructed view of the north face of Dome Peak and adjacent peaks, with White Rock Lakes in the foreground, is impressive.

Where it doesn't have the sheer "distance" or "sweeping views," which are impressive at first glance but don't reveal the intricate details of the alpine environment, this viewpoint is the perfect scale to capture both the size and scale of these impressive mountains. Yet, it is close enough to reveal all the details of glacial activity, the transition of flora from the valley floor to the alpine meadows, the rugged rock formations, etc. This is one you don't want to miss.

Overnight Trip: Accessed from the Ptarmigan Traverse. This one isn't easy to get to, but it is worth the challenge.
