Clarksville Iron Furnace [Suggest Edits]
Description
The Clarksville Iron Furnace was built along Clarks Creek in 1833 to smelt the iron mined out of the Bumpass Cove and Embreeville area. Many of the trails in the area are on the remains of the old mining roads. The furnace operated from 1833-1844. The furnace is in ruins, but the stone walls can still be seen along the creek once you cross the bridge.
On the Road: Once crossing the bridge over Clarks Creek, look to the left for the stone walls of the old furnace.
