St. George

Overview

Saint George, the most "urban" town in Southwestern Utah, is not large by most standards, but offers access to all the essential amenities of a city. Together with the adjacent town of Washington, both about one hour away from Zion National Park, the cities serve as a great home base for adventures, offering access to other multi-use parks and trail systems nearby.

Visitors can traverse rugged terrain in Snow Canyon State Park, or go mountain biking, hiking, climbing, and offroading on trails just outside town. Reservoirs and river access in St. George offers an oasis and escape from the heat, and the charming historic streets have many local shops, eateries, and modern amenities.

Camping & Lodging

There are plenty of areas to camp around St. George, which are great if you're looking for an alternative to the high-demand campsites inside Zion National Park. These include RV campgrounds, car and tent sites, and primitive camping zones. Especially if you are interested in activities like mountain biking, off-road driving, or hiking outside of the national park, you should look at less competitive campgrounds closer to St. George or Hurricane, and alongside almost every lake in the area.
