Redwood National Park
Overview
Redwood National Park is most commonly known for being the home to the tallest trees on Earth. The ancient coast redwood ecosystem protected by the park contains some of the world's most spectacular forests. In additional to the majestic redwoods, visitors can explore oak woodlands, vast prairies, wild rivers, and nearly 40 miles of stunning coastline. The park is also home to an amazing diversity of life as well as a rich cultural history. A visit to the park is sure to provide visitors with a myriad of opportunities for inspiration, enjoyment, and education.

Local Info
Operating hours for each visitor center vary by season. For more information and to see current hours of operation, visit the park's website.
- Thomas H. Kuchel Visitor Center: Open year round, 7 days/week (excluding major holidays). 9 am to 5 pm in summer, and 9 am to 4 pm in the off season.
- Hiouchi Information Center: Open year round, 7 days/week (excluding major holidays). 9 am to 5 pm in summer, and 9 am to 4 pm in the off season.
- Jedediah Smith Visitor Center: Open summer only, 9 am to 5 pm.
- Prairie Creek Visitor Center: Open year round, 7 days/week (excluding major holidays). 9 am to 5 pm in summer, and 9 am to 4 pm in the off season.
- Crescent City Information Center: Open summer, daily 9 am to 5 pm. Varying hours of operation in the off-season.
Visiting Tips
Fees & Passes:
There is no entrance fee for Redwood National Park.
Camping & Lodging
From Memorial Day weekend to Labor Day weekend, reservations are strongly recommended. The rest of the year, all campsites are available on a first come, first-served basis. For more information on camping in the park, visit the park's website.
- Jedediah Smith Campground: 86 sites. Open year round. Reservations can be made online or by calling 1-800-444-7275.
- Mill Creek Campground: 145 sites. Open May 15 through September 30. Reservations can be made online or by calling 1-800-444-7275.
- Elk Prairie Campground: 75 sites. Open year round. Reservations can be made online or by calling 1-800-444-7275.
- Gold Bluffs Beach Campground: 26 sites. Open year round. Reservations can be made online.
Backcountry Camping:
The park has eight designated backcountry campsites. Free permits are required for all overnight stays in designated backcountry campsites and may be obtained from Kuchel Visitor Center, Crescent City Information Center, and Hiouchi Information Center (summer only).
