Need to Know

There is an entrance fee to hike in the State Park. Access to Cliff Island or Belle Island requires a permit.

Description

Starting from the edge of the boat launch, look north (just along the edge of the shore) for the trail sign. Here, the trail is simply signed as Wellington State Park Nature Trail. It travels along the eastern edge of the peninsula, for a short distance, before reaching an orange-blazed Cut-off (on the left).

Continue traveling northward, where the blazes turn to yellow and orange. The trail continues past some views (at the northern tip), then begins to travel down the western edge of the peninsula. It travels past a small spur, that would take you to Cliff Island; permits are required to visit this island.

Continue traveling until you reach the beach. Here, the trail is signed as Peninsula Trail.

Flora & Fauna

Flora: Wintergreen, Eastern Hemlock, Birch.
Fauna: Chickadee.
