Description

Boulton Creek Trail is a forested loop trail that begins and ends at the Boulton Bridge Day Use Area in Peter Lougheed Provincial Park. This trail starts at the big trailhead sign at the far/south end of the parking area.

Immediately in the forest, the trail runs along the west side of Boulton Creek for about 0.6 miles. The creek is on the left/east in the valley below but hard to see with all the underbrush and other foliage. The trail then drops down to the creek to cross it on a sturdy bridge at the 0.8 mile mark.

Leaving the bridge behind, the trail is relatively flat as it winds through the forest for the next half mile. The trail then descends the hillside to the left, for about a quarter mile. Along this hillside stretch, there are good views of the mountains to the west. As the trail then levels out, the views disappear. An old cabin is reached at the 1.88 mile mark, just before the trail pops out of the trees into the parking area where it ends.

Flora & Fauna

Lodgepole pines and other conifers. Lush undergrowth.
