Description
The Nature Trail on Boca Chita Key starts at the boat dock or close to the lighthouse and winds its way around the Island. The trail passes through a wall that the Honeywells built when they made the key a vacation home. The trail is a wide gravel trail as it makes its way along the shore. The trail crosses over a bridge where you can see some mangroves growing along the shoreline.
The trail continues around the island, where you can get views of Elliot Key, flowering plants, and birds in the trees around you. It emerges and crosses a field along the backside of the island where there is a sand beach that you can use to enjoy the ocean. The trail winds around the restrooms and comes back to the dock. This is a short nature trail, but allows you experience the ecosystem that makes up the keys in the park.
