Need to Know
There is two place to park along the narrow road. One is just to west near the guardrail/trailhead along the south side of the road. The second is about 200 meters east of the guardrail/trailhead along the south side of the narrow road.
Ensure you gain permission from Inaho Farms prior to venturing to the falls.
Description
This hike begins along the north side of the road. Along the guardrail, look into the jungle for the trail that goes down into the jungle. Follow the trail down into the jungle. The trail is marked red and pink plastic tape, though, at times it's not marked well. However, the trail is easy enough to follow as the path is well worn.
The first quarter mile of the trail follows a traditional foot path at time crossing and following the stream. Following the stream, there are two sections that are harder to pass and require use of pre-tied rope handholds to maintain good footing. After a quarter mile, the stream meets up with a larger stream.
Follow the larger stream to the left for another tenth of a mile. Hira Falls is to the left of this main stream and can be seen and heard as it's approached.
Flora & Fauna
The flora and fauna along this trail are typical of the sub-tropical jungle. Throughout the year, orb spiders stretch webs across the path. Make sure you bring a stick to knock the webs and clear the path. During the summer months, ensure you bring bug spray to ward off mosquitoes.
