Need to Know
Not recommended after a rainstorm because the trail tends to collect a lot of water and get very waterlogged and muddy. Reach 11 is a dike after all! Parking is available on either end of the trail (at Cave Creek Rd or Tatum Blvd), but there are no bathrooms. You can cross Tatum Blvd to connect to another set of trails but be careful because Tatum is busy and fast.
Description
This trail starts at the Reach 11 Trailhead on Cave Creed Rd, south of Pinnacle Peak Rd near the Arizona National Memorial Cemetery.
The trail is very flat and smooth and runs around the Reach 11 Sports Complex, Pinnacle High School, under the 101 Freeway, under the 51 Freeway, south of the Reach 11 Recreation Area, and then ends at Tatum Blvd, across the street from the Barrier Free Nature Trailhead.
In spite of all these urban features, however, the trail itself is entirely unobstructed and is great for easy or fast runs, which is rare in Phoenix where most of the terrain is steep and rocky.
Flora & Fauna
Mostly scrubby mesquite trees. Not the most beautiful scenery compared to other trails.
