Overview
This route takes you on an easy/intermediate loop around Sabino. No shuttle required! Easy to follow markers and allows you to get a taste of elevation while staying in the front of the park. Plenty of options to deviate from this path, but this is my own personal running route and love it!
Description
Start from the parking lot headed east on
Bear Canyon Trail #29. Just after joining the road, make a right to cross the bridges (signs pointing to
Seven Falls). After the bridge, leave the road to begin climbing the
Phoneline Trail (signs also point to
Blacketts Ridge ). Climb a moderate climb and stay left to pass the turn for
Blacketts Ridge.
Continue ascending the
Phoneline Trail but don't forget to stop and take in the breathtaking view. After just about a mile from starting the
Phoneline Trail, stay left to continue down the switchbacks. Continue onto the
Creek Trail #52 for about 0.5 miles before crossing the creek*.
Take
Bluff Trail #51 to the right for a short ascent before rejoining the canyon road. Turn left on the canyon road which will take you back to the parking lot.
*Please note that during monsoon season the water may be impassable. Flash floods can occur at anytime. If Impassable continue on the Sabino
Dam Trail back to the road.
