Description
This trail connects with both ends of the
Upper Bluffside Trail. From its west end (Junction R), it passes In Yan Teopa Rock (an natural arch) as it descends a series of wooden stairs and short switchbacks to level off just above the Mississippi River (Junction Q). Another set of stairs on a spur trail here allow you to reach the river.
The Lower Bluffside Trail then contours eastward as a somewhat rocky, narrow singletrack that undulates along above the river. It passes two other junctions (P & O) where more steps give access to the river. At its east end, it climbs more stairs and switchbacks to join (at Junction N) the Interpretive Trail, which you follow to the top of the bluff (at Junction F).
The Lower Bluffside's west end is a steeper ascent or descent than is its east end.
