Need to Know

Olympic National Park installed a trail to get around the washed out section of Olympic Hot Springs Road. As per their website: Pets and bicycles not permitted on most trails but welcome on bypass trail and roads. Please do not take your dogs on trails that spur off the Bypass Trail.

Description

Bike, trail run or hike. The official bypass trail starts as unpaved doubletrack as it climbs steeply to the intersection with the Cascade Rock Trail. After that is unpaved singletrack with a very rooty descent. The path levels out as it gets closer to the river and goes through a small stream and over some puncheons. There is a very steep but short descent to a narrow bridge with one railing then it winds along a slightly wider section through large ferns. This section can be very muddy. The trail will make a sharp right turn at its terminus, and you'll be back on Olympic Hot Springs Road, past the washed-out section.

Flora & Fauna

Old growth forest.
