While there is no marked parking at Brumley Rd, the shoulder is wide enough to accommodate a few vehicles. There is a marked parking area on Lake Mills Rd at the southern end of this segment with a 0.4 mile connecting trail providing access to the FNST.

This segment of the Florida National Scenic Trail (also known as the Florida Trail) travels through USFS land purchased to help facilitate the creation of the FNST. This segment of the trail travels through a variety of mostly wooded terrain. From Brumley Rd the trail descends gradually, skirting between and behind residential properties. After a short distance however the trail levels out and leaves civilization behind to wind through the woods.

The trail passes through several low-lying areas that are often wet, but elevated walkways have been built through these areas so the footing remains dry and sure. About 1 mile from Brumley Rd the Trail Association has set up a couple of picnic tables under a large tree for those wanting to pause for a meal or a short rest. Continuing to the south you start to encounter some old roads or fire breaks, but the trail continues to be well marked with orange blazes so choosing the correct path is fairly easy.

Shortly after this the trail crosses a private dirt road called Panorama Dr and just to the south of this crossing intersects with the connector trail coming from the Panorama Dr parking area and trailhead.
