Need to Know

This is a very remote area and emergency services are few and far between.

Description

Start at Clover Three Creek Road #365. Go 12 miles, crossing the Inside Desert with no water or shade to meet up with Winter Camp Road #3763. Turn South and keep going. This part of the road is part of the Idaho Centennial Trail. After just about a mile and 13 miles in you see 3 Creek Well Road #37106 come in from the Southeast. Stay right and enjoy a spectacular rim view at 16 miles.

As you drop into Bruneau Canyon on the "Indian Hot Springs Grade" keep an eye out for cool bits of jasper. This canyon is often used in Airforce training missions. Watch for Birds of Prey and flowers in spring. On the way down be sure to stop for a picture at the old abandon pickup. At the bottom, you'll cross a sketchy bridge and possibly see some rafters floating the river headed for white water.

Once across the old wooden bridge be sure to visit the hot springs and the stone cabin for pictures and a much-deserved soak at the 18 mile mark.

The road then climbs up 2 miles to the West side of the canyon and another old stone cabin sitting right on the rim. Be sure to enjoy the views from here as they are the last views of the river. You are now 20 miles into this adventure.

Go another 14 miles, crossing the J-P Desert with no water or shade to meet up with Rowland Road #366 out of Grassmere.

Flora & Fauna

Lupine, Indian paintbrush, sage, and various grasses support mule dear, antelope, snakes, hawks, eagles, falcons, rabbits, and other rodents.
