Description

The Red Blaze Trail loops through a portion of the Marl Bed Flats tract of the Lake Jesup Conservation Area. The area is a mix of woods and marsh plains and hosts quite a few migratory shorebirds during the spring.

From the parking lot at the end of the road, the trail starts through a livestock gate (signs indicate that cattle graze this property, so be sure to close the gate behind you) and quickly splits to the two directions of the loop. Both directions are well marked with red diamond blazes and easy to follow.

The eastern portion of the loop skirts the edge of the woods and offers views out into the marshy areas popular with birds. Due to the landscape, portions of the trail may be muddy or flooded during the wet season and is mostly exposed to the sun.

The western half of the loop heads back into the woods and is mostly shady. The trail itself is well-worn, although it can be roughed up from use by horses and cows.
