Overview
Great hike with lots of views from the slabs, slides and summits. It is quite steep in spots with the decent from Giant going over to RPR tending to be steep and slick when wet.
Description
The best way to tackle this is to do it like Cascade and Porter. Head up the
Ridge Trail to Giant Mountain and just before the summit break off to the right onto the
East Trail to Giant Mountain. This will take you down the east side of Giant and over to RPR.
A short way down there is a trail off to the left to go out to the East Slide Lookout. This is a great place to catch a sunrise if you want to start out early and don't have time to get all the way over to RPR which would also lent to awesome sunrise or sunset views. It is very easy to miss the path as it is lightly traveled. A little hint, there is a wooden sign 10 feet downhill from the path which faces downhill and has an arrow which points the opposite direction of the path leading out to the lookout.
From here, continue over to RPR which has no USGS pin or marker. Head back over to the
Ridge Trail to Giant Mountain and take a right to head up to the summit of Giant which is only 0.1 miles for some more great views. Giant has a USGS pin. From here head back down the
Ridge Trail to Giant Mountain to the trailhead.
