Description

From the dirt lot, the trail initially interweaves a private road past farm houses before following an old ditch that was one of two that provided the original water source for New Harmony. It is generally easy to follow once it leaves the road at the signed older trailhead. There is more water as it climbs, but one shouldn't expect much. Sometimes the ditch holds water too. It gets steeper as it finally leaves the creek and climbs to Summit Trail above. At the junction, an earthen dam holds Big Water and another pond.
