Need to Know
There is a fee to enter. It is cheaper if you park your car in the main lot outside the one-way road to the pay station and just hike the short distance to the start of the trail. If you are that cheap, then you'll miss out on the scenic drive through the nature preserve. Bikes are cheaper than cars, and there are many cyclists doing the loop.
Description
This is a flat, wide, gravel trail designed for looking at birds in the Ding Darling Nature preserve. There is a boardwalk and a two story gazebo to hang out and look out over the water. There are a few benches along the trail. The later part of the trail, after it intersects with a paved road, is narrower and ends abruptly in some nasty looking water.
Flora & Fauna
A bird watching paradise. They estimate there are 245 species of birds that spend at least part of the year vacationing here.
