Leaving Swift Creek Trail, head down to Swift Creek and take the bridge across the creek. From here, the trail starts its relentless ascent of more than 2,500 feet. The first 1.5 miles are through denser forest, but meadows soon yield a welcome change of scenery. After 3 miles, you cross several larger meadows giving you stunning views of the ridge on both sides. At 3.8 miles, the trail becomes noticeably steeper and starts zigzagging up the northern side of the valley. Reach the junction with Blacks Basin Trail and Seven Up Peak Trail #09W67 at 4.4 miles. Backpackers may find great areas to camp on one of the meadows or at the end of the trail.
