Overview
Short but steep hike to amazing views from the top of a huge sand dune. The view from the top is amazing and you can see for miles.
Need to Know
Toilets and picnic tables near the parking lot by the small lake at the beginning of the hike.
Description
From the parking lot, you follow a sandy path on the
Alternate Hiking Trail until near the base of the dunes. From there, it is a very steep climb to the peak of the dunes. There are markers at the base of the dune to use as a guide. The biggest challenge is not just the elevation gain in such short mileage, but the fact that you are also hiking through sand.
Reaching the top, however, makes it worth it for the views, as well as the fun slide/hike back down the dune afterward.
Flora & Fauna
Some flora at the beginning of the hike, but mainly sand the rest of the way.
