The Skyline I trail starts at the Strawberry Flats parking lot and finishes at the Lightning Lake campsite. Round-trip is approximately 20 kilometers with the connecting trail back to the trailhead fairly flat. Staging two vehicles is a possibility.

Need to Know

Once hikers ascend the trail, no water is available on the ridge. A small stream approximately 2 kilometers up from Strawberry Flats parking lot is the last water source, or Lightning Lake from the east side.

*** Streams can be dry in late summer. ***

Description

The trail is double wide at the start and end. Singletrack once the ridge top is reached. The trail has steady, moderate inclines/declines that lead to steeper sections once on the ridge. The trail connects with the Skyline II, which offers another option to head to Mowich Camp.

The trail offers spectacular views of E.C. Manning Provincial Park, the Hozameen Ranges, as well as the Lightning Chain of lakes.
