Description

Sometimes referred to as "North Boundary Trail," North Bird Mountain Trail is the probably the hardest section of Frozen Head outside Chimney Top Trail. After leaving the saddle from Bird Mountain Trail proper, you get to quickly descend into the lush forests towards Phillips Creek and then follow the dirt roller coaster of the Cumberland Mountains, heading east, towards Bald Knob. A few Barkley landmarks are present if you know where to look, and you'll eventually pop-out at a fairly confusing intersection that leads you towards either the Garden Spot overlook, or back south/west on either the Cumberland Trail or a jeep road.
