Overview
A nice loop utilizing a New York-New Jersey stretch of the Appalachian Trail.
Description
This hike started at the parking lot of the Mohican Outdoor Center. Follow the dirt road to where the AT crosses it and go right. The trail first leads through the forest, crossing a creek. Before too long, it will ascend. After a couple of miles, you'll get to the ridge and you'll be rewarded with great views.
The highest point is recognizable by a big heap of stones. On the way back, veer left at the
Kaiser Trail. This will descend towards the Delaware, but you can take a shortcut to the
Coppermine Trail. On the
Coppermine Trail, take a right. This will bring you back to where the AT crosses the road.
It's a beautiful half day hike. Watch out for rattle snakes.
Flora & Fauna
Deer, turkey vultures, ravens, rattle snakes (they say there are many rattlers, but I didn't see them).
