Description
The latest singletrack at Sprague Brook is some of the best. This trail is actually several segments linked together to make an alternate way to climb up to the top of the ravine to do the main loop.
The trail starts off the
Snowmobile Climb, soon after that trail's start. Look for the "Mordue Way" on the the left, named after long time WNYMBA member Larry Mordue who lost his battle with cancer. This beautiful bench cut leads to a snowmobile trail section, whereupon you zig left and then zag immediately to the right to access some singletrack through a spruce grove, roots and all. This short section dumps you out on another old section of snowmobile trail that climbs up to your left.
Just as the grade starts to ease, take the singletrack on your right, for a nice section through some pines and around some small ponds. This section of singletrack eventually ends on another old snowmobile trail at the edge of a field. Take that 2-track down the hill, over the creek and back up the other side, where you'll see the singletrack start once again on your right. Take that and meander along the top of the ridge until the trail ends at
Snowmobile Climb.
