Description
This trail follows an overgrown road for most of its length. It is so overgrown the trail is a singletrack. In some locations, the original road has been altered to the point of being unrecognizable by earth flows. These make for the most interesting and tricky parts, for instance just a few tire widths wide with cow hoof pockmarks and out sloped in a couple of these.
These sections are what spice this trail up to intermediate. Despite the above, because the trail follows close to the contours, it is kind to the environment, meaning not prone to erosion despite being well-worn by both human and bovine use. In fact, it is more environment friendly than the
Monte Cresta Trail itself due to being narrower and more closely following the contours.
To follow the trail, take the low option at each fork. This is simple to follow westbound. There is one turn that is easy to miss eastbound. The trail drops sharply off the right edge of the old road and crosses an earth flow.
