Need to Know
Parking is available at the Southern Region Water Board building beside Mulunguzi Dam. To cross the dam and access the dam, there are access fees payable to the guards at the gate: MWK 100 for Children, MWK 200 for Adults
Description
Begin by crossing the Mulunguzi Dam. At the end of the dam, turn right onto the service road. After 100 meters, you'll see the trail to the left going up the mountain into the brush.
The trail is narrow, and during or after rainy season the underbrush can be quite overgrown in spots. The climb is steep, beginning at around 0.75 miles.
At about 1.25 miles, you'll reach an outcropping of rocks with a breathtaking view of the Mulunguzi Reservoir and Zomba. This beautiful spot is an appropriate climax to this hike.
If you do desire to press on to Chagwa Dam, the trail ends at the service road to Chagwa Dam. Turn right on the road and you'll find the dam after a few hundred meters.
If you want to press on to Queen's View and Emperor's View then turn left on the road on the far side of Chagwa Dam.
Flora & Fauna
This trail boasts a variety of wildflowers all along the trail. Small birds like finches populate the trail.
