Description
The trailhead for this trail can be accessed from North Long Pond Road, or one can park at the main Grafton beach area, take
Long Pond Trail halfway, and then cut through a connecting trail to the trailhead. Be aware that Grafton Lakes State Park has a small entry fee during the summer months (Memorial Day through Labor Day).
The trail is an out of use dirt road with occasional, slightly steep inclines, but mostly even terrain. Be aware that snow melt will cause the trail to become very muddy and wet in spring. Historical signs dot the trail informing the reader about the history of the fire tower and its use.
The Dickenson Fire Tower is a restored fire tower that can still be climbed and accessed for pleasant views of the surrounding area, and glimpses of surrounding mountain ranges.
