Description

The drawback with this trail is that, in taking it, you either completely miss the Mortero Palms (which I highly recommended visiting) or you have to backtrack to regain this trail. The plus side is that there is no technical scrambling on this section.

As you go up the Mortero Palms to Goat Canyon Trestle Trail watch for a concrete water trough in a greener, flatter spot on your right. Head up this trail, veering left through a dry creek bed. After an initial sharp rise, you'll head up another rise before the trail flattens out and regains the Mortero Palms to Goat Canyon Trestle Trail.
