Family Friendly
It's a wide well surfaced trail that's great for off season hiking. During ski season, it's possible to avoid the hilly areas and use just the flat "teaching area".
Need to Know
There is ample parking and a fully serviced chalet is open during the winter. A trail pass is required for using the ski trail. For off season hiking, there is no charge but donations are appreciated.
Description
Doing the clockwise circuit, there is a gradual climb to the top of Oh My God Hill, then a fast descent with a hair pin turn at the bottom and then another good climb by
Brook Trail. It's fast through the birches before another good climb just past
Birches Run intersection and then there is a fun down hill bit and an easy cruise back to the finish. Go counter clockwise to take advantage of the flattest land and use
Fox Trot as a short cut back.
During off season, it's a wonderful and popular hiking trail with a profusion of wildflowers and berries.
Flora & Fauna
There are areas of mature birch and spruce but much of the vegetation is secondary regrowth following a massive burn in the 1980's. There is a succession of wildflowers through the summer and a bounty of berries in the fall.
