Description
This trail is an existing part of the Cross Charlotte Trail (XCLT) that travels by the northern edge of UNCC to a dense residential area in North Charlotte. The trail starts off of E Mallard Creek Church Rd. at Kirk Farm Park and ends at Amaranthus Ct. near the intersection of Sugar Creek Rd and WT Harris Blvd.
Mallard Creek Greenway is 4.8 miles long and connects to
Toby Creek Greenway,
Clarks Creek Greenway, and the RTS trails near the Muslim Community Center of Charlotte. Once completed, the Cross Charlotte Trail will connect from the South Carolina border all the way to UNCC for a total length of around 30 miles.
The beginning of Mallard Creek Greenway is at Kirk Farm Park. From the Kirk Farm Park parking lot, the trail turns south to go under East Mallard Creek Church Road. The trail then follows Mallard Creek and crosses under North Tryon Street and I-85. There is a road crossing at David Taylor Drive. The trail then goes under Mallard Creek Road. After this underpass, the greenway continues for 0.2 miles before intersecting with Clark's Creek Greenway. Mallard Creek Greenway continues to the left at this fork, whereas Clark's Creek Greenway continues to the right. Mallard Creek Greenway then winds around residential neighborhoods and goes under West W.T. Harris Boulevard. Mallard Creek Greenway ends when it meets up with the end of Amaranthus Court.
Parking is available at Kirk Farm Park (210 E Mallard Creek Church Rd, Charlotte, NC 28262).
