First half mile of trail runs along a private property boundary. Stay on trail.
Description
Parking: Trail starts from Ellie Lane parking lot located slightly off the 67. This ingress to the Iron Mountain trail system is much less trafficked than the main Iron Mountain parking lot and it may be easier to get a spot on busy weekends.
Cautions: Exposed and can be very hot during the summer. Bring sunblock, water, and watch for rattlesnakes.
Trail: Well built trail. Moderately technical, stairs, not super flowey. Good brush clearing.
Directions: From the parking lot, continue east off a moderately well graded, non-technical trail. At 0.5 miles the trail intersects with the Iron Horse trail. Keep left at the fork and proceed uphill. The next mile is a steep climb with lots of stairs to the top of the first saddle. Take a right and proceed downhill for roughly 0.4 miles. There will be an intersection at the bottom of the hill. Take a left, proceed uphill, and cross a small footbridge. Climb for 0.6 miles and continue bearing right. Continue downhill for 1 mile until you reach another saddle and the junction with the
Iron Mountain Peak Trail #10.
