The route shown here deviates very slightly from that shown in the resources above to pass more scenic lakes around Valley of the Five Lakes Trail. Specifically, it leaves Trail #9, and instead takes Trail #9b and Trail #9a, and then rejoins Trail #9.

Great Divide Trail - Section E (Saskatchewan Crossing to Jasper) Alternate Route.

This Alternate Route bypasses a high area along the popular Skyline Trail, by descending into the forest and passing a few small lakes on its way into Jasper. Typical reasons to take this Alternate Route include poor weather, no trail camp availability on the popular Skyline Trail, and shorter highway/trailhead access. Runs on maintained trails.
