Description

The newly opened (2018) Acorn Creek Trail connects to the South Fork American River Trail at a metal gate one mile in. It follows the seasonal upper Skunk Creek up the canyon. From there, one can return downhill, or connect to other locations, near or far. The trail is wide and shared by foot, bike, and horse traffic.

Flora & Fauna

One can see different plants and animals in different seasons here in the scrub and woodlands. In summer, star thistle and pipevine swallowtails are all around the parking area.

This gate is a good landmark when looking for the Acorn Trail junction just downhill and left of here (north and west).
