Need to Know
There are three cattle guards along the trail. Free parking is available on Western Colorado State University campus just west of the starting point of the trail.
Description
This trail is great for beginner hikers seeing that it is pretty much flat with little variation in elevation. There are sagebrush-covered hills north of the trail and a small irrigation ditch on the south side. As such, there isn't much shade along the way except for an occasional towering cottonwood tree. Invasive wildflowers line the trail during the early summer months and many songbirds flourish among the sagebrush and willows along the irrigation canal.
This trail can also be used to access the
Contour Trail in two different spots along the way. One connecting trail is near the beginning of Cemetery Trail (or the west side) and the other connecting trail is near the end of the trail (the east side).
