Need to Know

Bring bug spray and water, most of the trail is shaded by trees which protects from sunburn but it still gets very hot so hydration is important.

Description

Fort George Island Cultural State Park is located by the Timucuan Ecological and Historical preserve and is also in walking distance of the Ribault Club and Kingsley Plantation. The island's scenic views can be seen by small boat, kayak or by a leisurely hike through the trees that ends at the Ft. George River.

Flora & Fauna

During the day an array of birds and gopher tortoises can be seen and if you go at dusk you're likely to encounter armadillos. Also, there are several peacocks and peahens that roam the island so it is likely you can catch a glimpse of them.

Low tide at Point Isabel was very nice. A flock of egrets was chillin out on the sand bars and some fish were jumping. Pretty cool, but sunny! — 1h 45m
