There's not much shade on this trail, so bring sun protection.

Description

This trail goes through an old burn area. It has recovered somewhat but has very few trees. In the spring, it is filled with balsamroot flowers. The trailhead is located a half mile west of the very small town of Nelson, up FSR #4140.

This trail ends when it intersects the Big Log Gulch Trail #252. Once you get to the Big Log Gulch Trail, there are more trees, a clear spring-fed creek, and tons of wildflowers in the spring. See the Big Log Gulch Trail #252 description for more details.

Flora & Fauna

Balsamroot grows here in the spring.
