Need to Know
Generally done counter-clockwise but can be used in both directions. There's a lot of overgrowth in some spots at times so be aware.
Description
This is a fun but quick trail also known as Wayne's World. It starts with a moderate climb up the Wellsville Wilderness access trail. About a quarter of a mile up, take the left fork which heads up the side of the mountain into a beautiful grove of maples with ivy hanging everywhere and pockets of thick ferns.
At 0.4 miles is another fork, generally stay to the right to hike the loop counter-clockwise, but it may be done in either direction. You'll wind down through an exposed sagebrush hill covered in flowers before heading back up to the trees. The trail below the sagebrush ridge hasn't been trimmed up so is still a little rough in spots, but overall a great little hike.
This can easily be done in multiple loops if you're looking to get some distance under your belt. Overall, a fun little loop that needs some love.
