Need to Know
Plenty of information and resources are available at the Friends of the Outlet, Inc.
website. You can also find a Historical Trail Guide to put things into perspective in several local businesses.
Description
Walk, run, bike, or ride horseback along this trail. This trail follows the Keuka Lake Outlet Creek, which runs between Keuka and
Seneca lakes; it is the only natural stream to connect two Finger Lakes. See the history of mills, railroad, canals, and more as you hike this beautiful nature trail. The stream features two beautiful waterfalls that were formerly used to power mills. The trail is owned and maintained by Friends of the Outlet, Inc., who also host events on the trail.
The trail is relatively flat and easy to navigate and you'll find benches to sit on, pavilions, toilets, and other amenities. There is currently no potable water available along the trail, so make sure to bring your own.
Flora & Fauna
There are a wide variety of flora and fauna on the trail. Look for painted turtles, blue herons, and brown trout. When it comes to flora, notice the difference between the north and south sides of the stream, which get slightly different weather throughout the year. Friends of the Outlet, Inc. host several events to highlight the flora and fauna, such as birding walks, wildflower, and other plant walks.
