Family Friendly The trail is paved out to around 45th Street making it a nice hike for families with young children or toddlers in strollers.

Need to Know

The trail goes through some less than reputable neighborhoods. Hiking only during the day is recommended.

Description

The trail begins at the historic Brown vs. Board of Education building near downtown Topeka. From there it proceeds south on a paved path down to 45th Street. From there the trail continues unpaved past Forbes Field to the Berryton Post Office. Be on the lookout for horseback riders on the trail past 45th Street. The trail was originally intended to link up with the Flint Hills Nature Trail, but a significant portion of the route south of Berryton has allegedly reverted to private property.
