Need to Know

Most people link this and the Appalachian Trail for a loop hike.

Description

The Iris Trail runs north and south in the southern part of High Point State Park. From the north there is a large parking lot with a blue connector trail to the Iris Trail. Trailing southward, the trail is wide and well-maintained. Passing a few access trails to Rutherford Lake, the trail has great views of the lake at a few points. Once past the lake, the trail becomes more narrow and rocky. The trail will cross the Appalachian Trail and continue to Deckertown Turnpike where there is a small dirt parking area.
