Description
The Macedonia Ridge Trail heads through Macedonia Brooks State Park with outstanding views of the Catskills and the Hudson River Valley from the top of Cobble Mountain. There are several other viewpoints along the loop that have equally memorable views.
There is a small parking space for about 2 cars at the start of this blue-blazed trail heading up to Cobble Mountain. Once at the top of Cobble Mountain, you can continue on the Macedonia Ridge Trail all the way around the park, or opt to connect to any of the other park trails for a shorter outing.
The trail has several short but challenging steep ups and downs. These climbs, while short in length, gain a lot of elevation quickly and are, at times, very rocky. Take your time and watch your footing on the descents. In between the high points along the loop, you'll hike in wooded valleys with various small streams and creeks that make for a scenic setting.
Flora & Fauna
As in the rest of the wooded areas of CT, there are ticks. Dress and prepare appropriately, at the least, and keep an eye out for ticks and do tick checks especially with dogs and children.
