Description
This is a challenging dirt trail that starts at Cove Lake and leads up to Mount Magazine State Park. White-diamond blazes and mile markers denote the trail along the way. It is 1500 feet of elevation change, so be prepared for the challenge. However, there are great views of the surrounding area as you progress up the mountain. This trail can be completed in one day or broken into two days for those that prefer to backpack in the national forest portion (lower 2/3). The upper 1/3 is located within the state park boundary (no camping).
Sturdy footwear, water, and potentially trekking poles are recommended.
