This trail provides a short, but scenic, way to reach the Boundary Trail #1207 from Forest Road 079.

From the parking area on Forest Road 079 the trail heads to the south paralleling Elk Creek through deep, lush forest. It crosses the creek and follows a series of switchbacks up the eastern slope of Lake Mountain. There are opportunities along here for views of Grayback Mountain to the northeast. After the switchbacks, the trail gets less steep, passes Delmore Healy Spring (there's a small sign here), and soon ends at the junction with the Boundary Trail #1207. This spring can be an important source of water along an otherwise waterless stretch of the Boundary Trail.

From this junction, you can make a challenging journey north along the Boundary Trail #1207 to Grayback Mountain or an easier one south to Mount Elijah.
