Description

State Line Trail is a rugged, rocky singletrack that commences in the hikers parking lot behind Greenwood Lake Marina and terminates at the Appalachian Trail after 1.2 miles. While it's a nice trail that takes you through a lovely forest, it is a means to an end. Most hikers use it to access the Ernest Walter Trail or the AT.

Expect to work a bit with a 775 foot elevation gain, mostly between the mile marks 0.25 and 1.0.

Parking is a little difficult to find and is actually in the same parking lot as Greenwood Lake Marina. Perhaps 12 cars can fit, so get there early on weekends.

Flora & Fauna

This trail exhibits North Jersey hardwood forest mixed with pitch pine once up to the ridge. Occasional deer, and less occasional black bear, can be found throughout Abram S. Hewitt State Forest.
