Description

This is a great way to start your hike at Castlewood State Park. It is a 1.2 mile climb all the way to the top. There are no real steep sections and not a lot of elevation change so it's a good warm up for the rest of the park.

The trail starts right across from the ranger station and works its way up the side of a valley in the hill side. It rolls on to the opposide side of the valley and around the hill side up to the top.

There are a couple of tight spots where you'll have to navigate some trees that are a little close together. But other then that it's just a nice little climb to meet the middle of Grotpeter trail. From there you can go left to hit the technical side or right for an easier downhill.
