Family Friendly A short and easy trail with a picnic area and playground located across the road at Tom Watson Park.

Dogs are allowed to swim on the east and south shores only. Dogs are not allowed on the west side or in any of the wetland areas.

Description

This wide and flat trail loops around Coot Lake, and makes a nice start to a longer hike at the Boulder Reservoir or a pleasant short outing on its own. The west side of the lake is a protected wetland where you can spot a variety of birds, and the view of of the Flatirons and Longs Peak on a clear day make a picture perfect backdrop.

Flora & Fauna

Opportunity to see many birds such as meadowlarks, red-winged blackbirds, thrushes, red-tailed hawks, ospreys, and bald eagles.
