Kids will enjoy the novelty of hiking through a bog and should keep their eyes peeled for wildlife!
Overview
Hike the one-mile boardwalk through the largest peat bog in the lower 48 states! "The Bog" is 500 square miles and is located in the Northern Unit of Big Bog State Recreation Area.
Description
Starting from the Northern Unit parking area, hike north on
Ludlow Pond Trail to reach the boardwalk. On the boardwalk, you may see rare and endangered species of plants, including carnivorous plants! There is a platform at the end of the boardwalk offering an open view of this absolutely massive bog.
When you are done admiring this untamable landscape, turn back and continue on the loop around Ludlow Pond back to the parking area.
